Description
IP65 Fiber NID Enclosure (Demarcation Box) – with Internal Slack Reel

What is a Fiber NID Box? The Network Interface Device (NID) serves as the critical demarcation point between the carrier's drop cable and the customer's premise wiring. Our IP65-rated enclosure ensures a weather-proof, secure termination point, allowing technicians to test the signal without entering the home.
This IP65 Fiber NID (Network Interface Device) serves as a universal outdoor demarcation point. It is also widely recognized as a Customer Splice Point (CSP) in the UK/Europe, an External Termination Unit (ETU), or a Premise Connection Device (PCD) in Australia/New Zealand.
The internal storage reel allows sufficient fiber slack while maintaining proper bend radius, supporting both pre-terminated drop cables and field splicing for FTTH deployments.
A rugged outside-plant (OSP) network interface device (NID) that provides a clean handoff between the distribution terminal and the subscriber entry. Available in two configurations:
- NID — Without Reel: 2 ports, adapters and splice tray inside for conventional drops; compact footprint for wall/pole.
- NID — With Reel: factory-loaded rotating reel of armored simplex drop (typ. 50/100/150 ft) with pushable or standard SC/APC end; no field splice needed; variable clamp accepts round or flat drops.
Why it matters (Installer outcomes)
- Faster turn-up: factory pre-terminated drop trims truck time and avoids weather-exposed splicing.
- Repeatable craft quality: integrated slack management and bend-radius control reduce accidental damage during service.
- Built for OSP: UV-resistant PC+ABS, IP-rated housing, wide temperature range, and GR-771 environmental design.
Ideal for High-Labor-Cost Markets: The pre-terminated 'Plug & Play' design significantly reduces installation time and technical labor costs. It is the preferred FTTH solution for ISPs and contractors in North America (USA, Canada), Western Europe (Germany, UK, France), and Australia, where rapid deployment and minimal field splicing are critical. Also available as an empty enclosure (without reel) for cost-sensitive projects in LATAM (Brazil, Mexico) and Southeast Asia, compatible with standard field-installable connectors.

FAQs
Q1. What’s the difference between the two versions?
With Reel includes a factory-installed armored simplex drop (50/100/150 ft) so techs pull only the length needed and avoid field splicing. Without Reel is a compact demarc with adapters and splice tray for standard drops.
Q2. Which drop cables will the entry clamps accept?
Round OD ~3–16.2 mm and flat 2–8.1×4.5 mm are supported.
Q3. Is the with-reel drop truly outdoor-rated?
Yes—armored 3.0 mm OS2 G.657A2 with UV-stable jacket and wide temp range; GR-771 environmental design.
Q4. What connectors can I order?
SC/APC is standard for FTTH. LC/UPC duplex is available on the no-reel version; with-reel supports pushable SC/APC bullet or standard SC/APC.
Q5. Can I pole-mount?
Yes—wall is standard; optional pole kit available.
Q6. How is tampering prevented?
Security bolt on the lid; reel can be locked with a standard can-wrench.
Q7. Do I need grounding?
Housing includes a copper ground lug provision. Use per local code and hardware bonding practices.
Q8. What’s the typical enclosure size?
With-reel housings are ~261×222.7×73 mm class; compact no-reel units are ~190×140×55 mm class. Confirm final BOM before PO.
